The CD will run on almost any PC or workstation provided it can run
a java enabled web browser. We have tested the CD on Windows 95, 98, 2000,
NT, Macintosh OS 8.6+ and Sun, SGI, and Linux Unix based machines. Minimum
hardware should be:
- 300+MHz processor
- 64 MBytes RAM
- CD-ROM drive
- Internet access (not required for all viewers)
The recommended system that will allow maximum use of the CD and software
is a Sun Microsystems Ultra 10, Creator graphics, 128+ MBytes RAM.
Some of the images are quite large therefore we recommend a screen resolution
of at least 1024x768, preferably 24 bit colour ("millions of colors").
The table below shows the systems we have tested and the viewers that
work:

1/ On some Macintosh machines we tested the Quick-time plugin failed
to show the mpeg movies. This was solved either by using the "Sparkle
Fat" application as the application linked to mpeg MIME type or by upgrading
to Internet Explorer version 5 and the most up-to-date Quick-time plugin.
