Requirements for JAtlasViewer

Platform

Solaris 8 or later

Linux on X86, kernel 2.4.18 or later and glibc 2.3.5 or later

Microsoft Windows 98 or later

(Note that JAtlasViewer does not currently run on MacOS X)

Software

Sun Java Runtime Environment,* version 1.4.1 or later.
Sun Java3D Runtime Environment,* version 1.3.0 or later (OpenGL version).
Sun JavaHelp, version 1.1.3 or later.

Hardware

Minimum recommended RAM is 64MB
The graphics card must be capable of supporting OpenGL**

*For Sun workstations the 64 bit version of this software is recommended.

**Linux users should note that there is a known bug when displaying textures in java3D under Linux / OpenGL which seriously affects the 3D display. A work-around for this is to use the MESA graphics library instead of OpenGL. See the FAQ for details.
