Using JAtlasViewer

(with the sample data set)
  1. Launch JAtlasViewer from Java Webstart (or manually from the command line).
  2. Note that it will take a few seconds for JAtlasViewer to appear.
  3. When the application has appeared, select File>Open. This opens a standard file dialogue which allows you to select a 3D Woolz file to view. Select (double click) the file ts10/ts10.wlz from the folder containing the sample data set.
  4. The title bar of the application will indicate that ts10.wlz is loading. If, as in this case, there is a 3D surface representation of the ts10 embryo (ts10.vtk), JAtlasViewer will also load this file. (The application will appear unresponsive while these files are loading.)
  5. After a few moments a 3D image and bounding box will appear and the title bar will show JAtlasViewer --- ts10.wlz (Even if there is no .vtk file the bounding box will still appear).
  6. You may now manipulate the 3D image by clicking and dragging the mouse.
    • For users with a 3-button mouse:
      • left mouse button controls rotation.
      • middle mouse button controls movement in and out of the screen.
      • right mouse button controls lateral movement (across the screen).
    • For users with a 2-button mouse:
      • left mouse button controls rotation.
      • right mouse button controls lateral movement (across the screen).
      • <Alt> + left mouse controls movement in and out of the screen.
  7. To look at a 2D section through the embryo, select one of the menu options from the View Section menu.
  8. Help is available from the Help menu of the JAtlasViewer and the section viewer. The various menu options are explained here.
  9. There is also an FAQ list.
