The java tools from the emap project are all delivered as Java Webstart applications. All tools use the standard Java run-time environment plus Java 3D and JavaHelp. Most users will have the run-time environment, including WebStart, installed already, but many will need to install Java 3D and JavaHelp. The installation instructions from Sun require some knowledge of each operating system conventions and settings. The instructions below we have found work on all systems we have tested. If they don't work for you it may be because you have a non-standard configuration, please ask computer administrator or email ma-tech@hgu.mrc.ac.uk.

Please check system requirements then:

• Install Java 3D
• Install JavaHelp
