The section in 8C is taken from wholemount sample in 8A (plane is denoted by the white lines in 8A). This sample is double stained: blue = Wnt1 transcripts, red = salmon-gal detection of lacZ activity in this Myf5-nlacZ+/- embryo. In 8C, the arrow heads denote nuclei stained for salmon-gal (red). Fig 8B is a close-up of the mesencephalic-diencephalic region of a second embryo that is only stained for Wnt1. Arrowheads denote Wnt1 transcripts in the ventral neural tube.
