regionalBsx represents a very early marker for neural epiphysial fate commitment, expressed even earlier than the pineal gland anlage is set into its final location. Interestingly, the epiphysis maintains Bsx expression throughout the embryonic development and in post-natal stages

Type:in situ hybridisation probe
Identifier:Bsx probeA
Entity Detected:Bsx, brain specific homeobox ( MGI:2669849)
Notes:The Bsx probe used in this study by Cremona et al., 2004 [PMID:14678827] is described as "A 450 bp fragment corresponding to the 3' region of the Bsx coding sequence, cloned in pCRII (Stratagene). Antisense and sense probes were linearizing with XhoI and HindIII and transcribing with T7 and Sp6 RNA polymerase, respectively." Editors Note: the authors do not specify the exact 450bp region this probe covers.
