regionalSDF1 expression can be detected in the limb bud mesenchyme, and the pattern of expression is dynamic during development. At the time muscle progenitor cells delaminate, SDF1 is expressed in the proximal limb bud. After the cells enter the limb, SDF1 expression is also observed further distally in the mesenchyme.
