Reticulon 1 is differentially displayed in somites but expressed in dorsal root ganglia. This is consistent with dorsal root ganglia migrating through early, caudal somites where they are not clearly discernable from somitic tissue, before they form the distinct cell groups present between the neural tube and more mature, rostral somites.
