Notes:Smad9 (Smad8) expression was detected in this study by Arnold et al., 2006 [PMID:16765933] in embryos heterozygous for a targeted allele where the LacZ cassette was inserted into the AUG-containing exon 2, disrupting endogenous coding sequence and creating a null allele. Beta-galactosidase is expressed from this allele under the control of the endogenous promoter.
