StructureLevelPatternNotes
optic vesicle
detected detected
regionalExpression in the neural ectoderm of the optic vesicle in a region adjacent to the surface ectoderm.
optic cup inner layer
detected detected
surface ectoderm
detected detected
regionalExpression in the surface ectoderm near the eye. The expression domain was slightly larger than the optic vesicle.
olfactory placode
detected detected
regionalExpression in the lateral part of the nasal placode
Annotation Validation: EMAGE Editor
Detection Reagent
Type:in situ hybridisation probe
Identifier:MGI:13123
Entity Detected:Msx2, homeobox, msh-like 2 ( MGI:97169)
Notes:The Msx2 (Hox8; Hox-8.1) probe used in this study by Monaghan et al, 1991 [PMID:1682128] is described as being transcribed from "pHox-8.1", a "400bp AluI to EcoRI fragment from plambda26 cDNA containing the 3' end and untranslated regions" and is also schematically represented in Fig2A therein. The exact 3' end point is unknown as the EcoRI site is linker derived. Probe was shortened to approximately 100 bases by alkaline hydrolysis.
