Type:in situ hybridisation probe
Identifier:MGI:18807
Entity Detected:Bmp4, bone morphogenetic protein 4 ( MGI:88180)
Notes:The probe used in this study by Raft et al., 2004 [PMID:15084464] was "a digoxigenin-labeled RNA probe for...Bmp4... (Morsli et al., 1998 [PMID:9547240] )". Morsli et al., 1998 [PMID:9547240] describe this probe as "a 1550 bp full-length mouse BMP4 cDNA (kindly provided by Brigid Hogan, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN)(Jones et al., 1991 [PMID:1893873] )." Editor's Note: Jones et al describe a 1.6kb clone as well as another clone that was engineered by eliminating the 3' portion of the cDNA, encoding the TGF-beta conserved region, by digestion with SmaI, and subsequent religation. This was done to ensure to cross-reactivity with the closely related gene, BMP-2. No 1.6kb Bmp4 cDNA clone from the Hogan lab can be found in GenBank therefore exact probe sequence cannot be defined.
