Notes:
Image annotations: The arrowheads indicate the positions of the proximal and distal ganglion anlagen of the IXth nerve. The arrows indicate the neural crest cells associated with the nerve.
The Hoxa3 probe used in this study by Watari et al., 2001 [PMID:11784044] is described as follows: "Hoxa3 antisense probe was transcribed from a HindIII-AatI fragment of Hoxa3 cDNA, which is 5' of the homeodomain-coding sequence."
Editors note: Restriction site searching of the Hoxa3 RefSeq cDNA NM_010452.2 and other Hoxa3 sequences (e.g. Y11717.1) for HindIII and AatI sites finds only one potential HindIII/AatI fragment, which is only 45nt in length. It seems unlikely that a probe is this length was used - further information required to clarify.
