Notes:The anti-Gcna1 antibody used in this study by Maatouk et al., 2006 [PMID:16887828] was first described by Enders & May, 1994 [PMID:8200475] . It was generated by isolating mouse spermatogenic cells from ICR mice, culturing them overnight, isolating pachytene spermatocytes (85-90% pure), and then injecting these into the peritoneal cavity of female LouM rats. Splenocytes from rats injected 12 times over the course of one year were then fused with mouse myeloma Sp2/N cells, resulting in hybridoma 10D9G11. Western blots were used to show the antisera recognises an antigen of ~110 kDa in pachytene spermatocytes and round spermatids.
